Shower Thoughts

"I wonder what the reasoning was for giving red chickens the unique ability to summon meteors in final fantasy games"

I've been a bit...anxious to see how tactics ends up being in september that at times the game pops up in my head. Older models for chocobo were so cute...why did the red ones need such a frightening power... made them infamous in later games as it was like a chicken summoning Armageddon lol

Ever noticed this?

So you’re watching a kid’s cartoon featuring talking animals and such, and all the animals are wandering around buck naked like it’s a normal thing to do, which I guess it is for animals, but the second that they go to the beach, they all put on swimming costumes for some reason?

Like, you can be naked anywhere else, but if you’re naked on the beach it makes you a nudist, and we can’t have nudists in kids tv?

Noticed this while watching ‘Kiff’ but I’m sure there are other examples too.

Loona is traditionally drawn as about human sized or maybe a hair larger. But she IS a hellhound, so wouldn't it be more like THIS pic?
Well, except that traditional hellhounds are supposed to be big compared to other dogs. A human-sized dog (of which there are a few breeds) is considered very large. So perhaps she'd just be human-sized after all.

All kind of unfair on the poor hellhound really, which is probably just a corrupted form of the Cwn Annwn, a Celtic myth based on the sound of geese flying overhead (which can sound like a pack of dogs on the hunt) and also later anglicised as 'Gabriel's Hounds', despite having nothing whatsoever to do with Christianity.

I felt so dumb I thought the water heater died on me ^^;

Now that Visa and PayPal are trying to strong-arm sites like Steam and Itch.io into removing adult content under the threat of losing their payment providers, I think we should hold a benefit concert in aid of the poor artists and creators who, despite producing products that are perfectly legal in most parts of the world, are nevertheless being deplatformed.

We could call it 'Kink Aid'.

J.R.R. Tolkien, author of 'the Lord of the Rings', included in it this famous poem detailing the number of rings of power made by Celebrimbor and Sauron:

3 Rings for the Elven Kings, under the sky,
7 for the Dwarf Lords, in their halls of stone,
9 for Mortal Men, doomed to die,
1 for the Dark Lord on his dark throne.

Tolkien died in 1973.

WoooOOOoooo!

You know you've been interacting with too many 'Lord of the Rings' posts on Instagram when suddenly your feed is stuffed full of videos of sexy dwarves in their underwear.

In Star Trek they often save on water by having "Sonic" showers, the idea being I guess that instead of soap and water, ultrasonics shake up and disintegrate the dirt and bacteria. But that does nothing about conditioner for the hair. It may WASH the hair, but conditioner is an additive that needs to be rinsed on a surface level to remove excess but after absorption into the hair itself hence the "leave on for 2-3 minutes" many instructions will say.

So...in the future how do the sonic showers handle that? I never see them washing/conditioning their hair in any shows or movies, there's no water used, yet it's always immaculate. It may be clean, but I want to know the secret to Star Trek conditioner voodoo!! <lol>

I decided to websearch "ultrasonic frequencies and hair" to see if I could figure this out.

One page led me to a paper on "ultrasound-mediated microbubble cavitation" but that's more for transdermal drug delivery.

Another page talks about "high-frequency hair treatment" which is actually a therapy that uses UV and high-frequency rays to stimulate hair follicles and improve circulation to the scalp. It's still in the phase where human testing hasn't been done yet, but I think we can run with this.

Since I've never seriously watched Star Trek, I'm going to ask your frame of reference - how's the lighting in those "Sonic" showers? May not need real conditioner if the lighting promotes healthy skin and scalp.

The bottles for both my shampoo and bodywash say they are "cruelty free." How would there be any cruelty involved in the manufacturing of shower products? Even testing them on animals doesn't seem harmful, if anything probably the opposite.

Then again, knowing how much some animals hate being bathed... 😝

Uhh, I'm not sure if you want to know... I really hope such practices are the thing of the past but some poor creatures have been abused by using on them seemingly most innocent products in ways that were never intended for the end user, "just to make sure it's really safe".

Those practices are not over. Some countries still mandate animal testing (the article I checked claims China's one of them).

And for the benefit of @Punji I will just underline the cruel part, because I don't need to say any more.

Yeah, after looking at that I think you can sneak UV and high-frequency lighting into that "Sonic" shower for skin health.

I'll stand by my answer that it's the lighting.

China, of course, color me surprised...

When I was a kid, I genuinely thought that the head of the railway station in 'Thomas the Tank Engine' was called 'the FACT Controller' because I couldn't imagine a kid's program being so mean as to put the word 'fat' in a character's official name.
