It's almost been a month since my last update here, it seems.
So, I was in a guild discord server, when I saw someone saying that "story ends with End of Dragons", and everything that happens after that doesn't seem to stick... and, I gotta agree with them.
Though, for me personally, the story concludes after we take down the Void monster, and Soo-Won is finally freed. I don't know what to feel about the Ravenous Wanderer in the mine afterwards. It also feels odd that there's still... that, when you already get the credit rolls after the battle with the Void. They could've probably just ended it there, and concluded with Aurene finally having to go into a slumber, I dunno what's the deal with the mine afterwards.
So I've been playing some of the new expansion and I just got a few details to note, island so far is beautiful but mastery points once claimed from the map turn blue like Janthir for some reason. Without ruining the story I'll also say the Inquest are such a pain in the butt, I fear they're a lot more trouble for the arcane council than we know given those Asura gotta deal with their nonsense on a regular basis. Lamplighter btw is honestly kinda fun and it's a charr themed elite spec given the lamp that grants the powers is a fusion of Iron Legion and Flame legion tech. You still get three virtues as a guardian but the elite spec gives you a blue fiery shroud that allows you to wield a fiery hammer, a fiery staff, or a fiery shield & sword and each combo has its own abilities like staff removes debuffs and heals you and your allies while the hammer stuns foes and does AoE fire damage. Oh and I took a peek at the abilities the troubadour gets and they got a ballad skill honoring Almorra
When this new expansion Vision of Eternity is fully released AND on sale, I'm probably just gonna get it for the new elite specializations and the improved skimmer mastery. Story-wise, I think I'll leave it there for a while. But, just from the launcher alone, with the raptor, and not looking into anything on wiki yet... I have a feeling we're gonna see absolute war crimes with those Inquest experimenting on live specimens because of course they would. We already got a load of it with the scarab plague back in living world season 4 so what are the odds ?
Not sure how the elite specializations gonna play out until I can try them... but I'm not gonna hope too much, anyway. There's probably gonna be a ton of balancing, buffs and nerfs, and I don't want my build fucked up because a single trait is changed...
But, regarding builds :
My son got me the legendary shark spear (I forgot the name) for my early birthday, and I have never been happier... and to top it off, I found condition-damage Mechanist with spear to be super fun~ really nice damage output (tons of AOE too), AND good survivability. Even better : if the mech is too damaged and has to be sent off for repair, it still bombards the enemies with orbital strikes, so I'm not totally out. Super happy with this.
