Guild Wars 2

This is my and my son's head canon that Tybalt and Almorra both survive, and I won't have it any other way~
This is a head canon I can support as yeah I adored both these two as well and them living rather than what the story had happen is much nicer. I...still need to get my paws on a Tybalt mini at some point

Of all the characters that I have met and journeyed together, Almorra is the onky one that sticks with me the most. Rytlock, Rox and maybe others... I dunno, don't really much of a connection with them. Not to mention, I think that regardless of the order you joined back at the base game, Almorra is still with you.

As for my son, he has a major crush on Tybalt... and was equally heartbroken when Tybalt died. My son told me, there'd only been very few times he felt so connected and attached to a character before, and Tybalt is one of said few times~

On another note one thing I'm having a hard time figuring out is how many Agony infusion +1 do I need to snag to make a agony infusion +18 I think it was... farthest I've built is like an 8 but I'm trying to make I think it was a 18 as they sell for boat loads on the market and the agony +1 are dirt cheap. Sadly fearing it's a fool's errand but the idea of having all that gold just seems amazing as I'd be able to buy the two legendary blades I want for certain characters of mine

Edit: Nvm ...google did math for me and I'd need over 130k+ agony +1 to make the +18.... I'd probably go bankrupt in game just making the one

Turns out my Guardian (Almorra in this case) still has Dragon Stand (Heart of Thorn) not completed yet... well, better get to it then I guess. I'd need to complete the meta events of Auric Basin and Dragon Stand in order to get the items for the Warmaster Pack collection, so I can complete all Vigil equipment for her.

I already blew up so damn much money just for all the Vigil armor and weapons to get the skin... but, well, fashion is always one of endgame goals (lol).

Kinda funny when my guardian is in the same location with the actual Almorra, though. So, I turn on helmet visibility and dye armor to different colors to tell the two apart.

Yeah I still gotta get the warmaster pack for my guardian as well but I hate that forest. It might be kinder now that my skyscale can ride leylines but idk how much. Also rather sad atm...my headset broke and I gotta wait for a replacement which won't be here till the second. Not my night it seems but I'm also currently running my guardian through secrets of the obscure and I'm nailing down more of the achievements I missed last time so...not a terrible night I suppose

Heart of Thorn is brutal without the dragon mount... I certainly did NOT have a good time in that messy forest with my guardian, that's for sure.

Although, I took a break from my guardian for a change, with my engineer yesterday, to get the hero points for the Holosmith elite spec. I'll give it a shot once I get it fully trained, it looks pretty fun~

Holosmith also gives you a lightsaber so that in itself is rather cool. I've taken to having my characters wear each piece of their hero spec armor whether they are that spec or not as idk they just seem weird for other characters to wear them instead. So my engineer has the welding mask of the scrapper and mechanist gloves but I've yet to get the holosmith shoulders as I haven't gotten the points for it yet. On another note it's nice Guild Wars 2's developers aren't cold and cruel on April fools day unlike WoW, I complain about the WoW joke on their forum and i got gagged for the day so...yeah that's annoying. Glad I've basically given up on that game as Guild Wars 2 is so much more fun than the lagfest that is WoW these days

The mere fact that you gotta pay monthly just to play is already a big weird idea to me already... and my son complains that the armors and clothes are just literally DRAWN on the character model, which is another big oof. Another thing is people complaining that as soon as there is a new expansion, all your current equipment is obsolete, and you're just left behind. I don't remember much of the actual gameplay, only played like... an hour at best ? But I remember very well the notif "facing wrong direction". They can't even just make your character automatically turn around to face the target ? Sheesh.

And, what's the WoW joke, and how much of a dumpster fire did you get yourself into ? I'm... weirdly curious.

The joke was about worgen players asking for an optional tail.... their fake patch notes trash talked everyone but no more worse than worgen calling the tail ugly and unsightly and the like, which fanned the flames of all the trolls on the forums who've been talking crud about worgen players asking for the option of a tail as worgen's actual wolf form has barely any options. I mentioned that wow the guy who wrote that needs to be fired and they duct taped my mouth shut in the wow forums for that line. The game's unoptimized trash that I can't do any group content without the entire game crashing on me but I say ANYTHING about how they could fix it and I get my mouth taped shut. Honestly thinking of canceling my subscription to WoW at this point..Guild wars 2 is so much kinder and runs beautifully.

look up the patch notes on the site

"Fixed a bug where Worgen characters unintentionally had a strange wagging appendage that looked like it grew from the bottom of their spine. We apologize to anyone who was grossed out by this."

Yeah that's a bit way too far for me... they're freaking werewolves, what's wrong with having a tail ?

As for the game being unoptimized ? My son said it took him a whole freaking hour just for the damn game to launch, and the graphic looks more outdated than GW2 (did I mention the armors sometimes look like they're drawn on the actual character model ?).

I would honestly recommend canceling your subscription to be honest. I don't see any reason you need to pay monthly for a game like this, it's just unnecessary pressure at the back of your mind. Even if the game is absolutely awesome, smooth and without any lag, I'm not paying monthly for it. I much prefer to play the game whenever I feel like it, not having to play it so I don't waste the money I paid.

So last night I decided to go from start to finish all of the meta event of Auric Basin... and the amount of loot I got, from the events and the chests (mostly unidentified equipment) was NUTS. Though, every time I got any piece of equipment, the first thing I always do is salvage it to get crafting materials to sell later, so I don't really remember how many I actually got in total. Must have been nearly 100+ of those, though.

Although, I'm still not sure if it's better money-wise to salvage equipment (up to RARE quality) and sell the crafting materials, or just directly sell them all in Black Lion Trading ; haven't really looked into it. I'll try it tonight, just sell everything I got instead of salvaging them, and see how much I could get.

As for the meta event last night ? Way smoother than I expected. From start to finish, didn't get any troubles or issues, and the final battle was finished in probably a minute ? I was pretty damn surprised. And, even better, I got the item needed for the Vigil Warmaster Backpack collection for my participation in the meta event.

Now for the last one, at Dragon's Stand... this one's even more of a gamble with the annoying boss fights leading up to the final one, so no screwing around. My Necromancer gonna have to be on the case for it, again. Harbinger (Necromancer) with the "Deathly Haste" (grants quickness to nearby allies on interval) is definitely my go-to in group events so that everyone has quickness.

Literally no-one showed up to Dragon Stand. The Auric Basin last night did not go to well either. I guess most people had the same idea as me, they're fed up with Heart of Thorn maps in general. Instead, Secret of the Obscure was PACKED, especially the meta event to fight Eparch. Unfortunately, that means my Vigil Warmaster backpack item is postponed.

Small rant : I'm very fed up with people waiting to be revived during meta events like this. You know full damn well how long it is to revive dead players, and no-one has time for it when the final boss was attacking the whole room and summoning minions left and right. Respawn somewhere and get back as quick as you can, don't just lie there like dead weight.

Eh well, I got the Holosmith class fully trained anyway. Now my Engineer can enjoy Cantha all by himself. That's still something I guess. I'm still trying to learn how to effectively play the class, since heat generation feels a bit too high for my taste. Maybe I should try the trait that increases heat capacity rather than "overheat no longer damages you".

I wish Bladesworn (Warrior) flow and Revenant energy regenerated just as quick, though... they feel cripplingly slow to me.

Yeah I tried that last night, party got slaughtered by Eparch as people didn't run back from death and people split up too much between portals and the boss. I at least got info I needed about the mastery point, seems it was on top of the castle near a pool of blood. Entire mission ended in failure but it still claimed I got 115% participation despite coming in for the dragon, gate keeper, and to try Eparch. Heart of Thorns isn't one people seem fond of these days, sadly I need items from those woods for my dragon hunter bow and reaper sword but I doubt I'll ever get them if they're from group missions. I go in and there's not another player for miles

During the final fight against Eparch, I often just stay beneath him to avoid most of the full-room attacks that constantly sweep through, so I only have to worry about the cracks on the floor. I often use full-on condition damage builds against final bosses in meta events like this to go with other players, because I feel like you'll need loads of damage to contribute, and you can (usually) rely on others to revive you if you're downed.

Also, my story progress on End of Dragons far : I almost managed to smooth-talk my way out from being arrested, after the mess that Ankka caused. Though, the story after that doesn't really leave much of an impression on me. Even the pretty creepy Arborstone doesn't cut it for me much (well, except the floating dead body). PvE-wise, Echovald makes me think of Heart of Thorn maps, pretty rough to navigate around (though, at least there're zip lines, and I have the dragon mount). Still trying to fully complete the map before or at least during the story before I move on to the next map, and hopefully I have enough mastery points for the fishing and skiff.

Regarding classes : The other day I decided to gear up my Druid, which turns out to be pretty damn good healing-wise, similar to Firebrand F2. Although, the celestial avatar runs out rather too quick, so for the moment I'm using the spirits instead of glyphs, basically just chugging boons in there for everyone. I wish skill 1 of the staff has a bigger beam and not just a thin line, so I can heal others easier. I find myself using hammer most of the times instead.

Bladesworn seems to have lots of potential with tank/healer too, and the Gunsaber can attack at long-range, so my only other weapon is a staff, also for healing. She and my Engineer will be the next to go to Cantha. As much as I like my Necromancer who can survive and solo most group events, I kinda want a change, see how others play out.

Still trying to get my guardian to finish secrets so i can finally take him to janthir and catch up on that. Still bummed the only reason I haven't finished current Janthir is they haven't added female charr voice lines yet and now the next branch also doesn't got them. I skip Maguuma as far as story goes, when my character hits 80 and kills Zhaitan I jump right to path of Fire. Probably need to go back and do living world season one but not now. Slowly making progress on decorating the personal house but....wondering why couch looks so small... at least I can sit on it unlike the bed though. Broke down and got a shadowy throne for my necromancer from the gem store and my fiery wolf skin for the jackal as I had the gems on hand. Whichever of my characters make it through Path of fire and Frostbrood gets to go to Cantha next but.... I've been dedicating all my time to getting to Janthir on my guardian so we'll see who does what

Is it just me, or the charr voice for the player characters feels kind of bland ? Aa lot of times the tones feel pretty off, like they don't match the dialogue. I only really notice the difference for female charr players from End of Dragon forward, since I skip living world season 4, though I do like the new voice, especially for Untamed Ranger when using hammer attacks. Unfortunately, the only one I can hear clearly is "I'll break you down !". Not sure what the player says when using skill 5...

Also, change of plan ; I think I'll bring my characters to complete Secret of the Obscure first (mainly complete all maps), so I can play them when playing with my son. He only has Heart of Thorn, Path of Fire and Secret (for the weapons and dragon mount), and he's also not a fan of Heart of Thorn maps either. End of Dragon can wait.

I hope the spears feel at least decent once I finally get to buy Janthir...

what order you do things is your choice, one nice thing about how Guild Wars 2 handles it. Story of Secrets flows I guess seamlessly from End of Dragons but in my case I try to have my people go in order I only skip Heart of Thorns as I hate that forest. I..got a good few stuck in Path of fire right now... at one point the only two I focused on was guardian and engineer and well...only as of this post is my guardian starting Janthir content. Mixing the hero spec from End of Dragons for guardian with off weapon being the dragon hunter's long bow...worked out alright...compared to them using a two hander as off weapon as Secrets sadly feels like it requires abilities to break the defiance bar more although I saw people melt things without breaking that bar so idk if I'm doing something wrong or what but greatsword has no defiance break for guardians thus why I grabbed the bow.

Way things are going third to touch Janthir might be my revenant but we'll see... trying to get the charr hero spirit to flipping talk to me already but seems she stays quiet till you finish Renegade's I guess training. Not sure about a shield for them but I will be trying to get my revenant the special dragon shoulder at one point. Not fond of the gloves they get in Cantha but honestly they got some weird gear from hero specs outside that shoulder item.

As for Spears they seem alright but do require some testing to see who you enjoy them on most, again I love them on my weaver elementalist but everyone has their own tastes when it comes to weaponry in the game

Guardian can be very strong with condition damage (obviously burn), though it's not really for me. I prefer strike damage, and the burning is just secondary. As for "people melting things", I assume they run Firebrand, with a lot of burning and even quickness.

Now, if you wanna break defiance bar with greatsword, I remember skill 3 is a leap that makes enemies blind (which counts as 'soft' crowd control), and 5 is that you throw magic blades at nearby enemies, then press 5 again to pull them to you. However, longbow is indeed best for breaking defiance bar.

Other than weapons, the traps are good for crowd-control too, and are AOE, so if you can afford to get close to set up the traps, you should be good.

Something I'm wondering about the spears is : once you can use spears on land, can you use the same spear for both on-land and underwater ? Or you have to buy a separate one for on-land ?

This I have not tested yet personally so I'm not entirely sure. I did see a video where someone goes over spears and gives I suppose opinions on each but it's a tad dated

World boss tonight with my son was Claw of Jormag, but to my and his surprise (and in a bad way), the map was awfully empty. There were only me, my son and a handful of players (some were probably new, or alts, given that they were shown at level 80 with no mastery points). Needless to say, the fight was rough : the dragon boss constantly caused everyone to run away in fear, or used ice wave attacks that knocked back from the shield all the way back to the cannons. So, I decided, fuck it ; I switched from Harbinger to Necromancer, then used my shroud to melee the shield instead, because everyone was SWARMED with mobs. Took us two tries to get the boss' health down enough so that it'd change location.

Then, I switched back to Harbinger (with quickness to allies) ; everyone stood together at the edge of the platform with quickness from my shroud constantly popping off to damage the boss. As soon as someone was downed due to the ice damage below their feet, others immediately revived them back. So, no-one died and had to run all the way back, and I kept pushing quickness for them.

Event successful, and wasn't a tight clutch like I feared. And, it felt GOOD. We managed to win and didn't ruin the boss fight for (probably) new players who I assume weren't clear with the mechanics of the fight.

Necromancer saved the day again~
