Guild Wars 2

So... I just learned or well relearned a sad part of Almorra's past. Her son Ajax went and rebelled against the high legions and as a vigil recruit you put him down. Honestly looked and acted like Bangar... still can't believe those two had a cub but well... the cub was no doubt taught by Bangar's influence and poor boy went rotten.

Yeah, whole family's gone, it's just sad. Though, if I remember right, Ajax didn't rebel against the legions ? More so he was extremely against the peace treaty between the charr and humans.

Still, really rough family situation. Poor Almorra getting shit from her husband and son all the way through.

Yesterday my son guided me through World VS World... well, only things like capturing points that weren't well-guarded. It was for the weekly objectives in Wizard's Vault, and for my son to get the Metal Legion T-Shirt skin, since he's still struggling with the event "catch the leaping charr". For some reason the event just failed immediately, despite the players standing right at the area the charr was leaping to. Big waste there, meh.

Oh and last night I tried that shouting "AMNYTAS IS OURS !" again, but Lyhr still came in in the cutscene. I guess he was not gonna take my bullshit again (lol).

Ajax hated humans and saw no reason the charr should ever befriend them so he worked with a group of renegade charr to stop the peace. Sadly the orders to establish peace came down from the high legions so by trying to get in the way of that Ajax was rebelling against the legions as well. Even going so far as to come up with a plan to assassinate the human diplomat and frame the charr one for the murder. Playing more of the Icebrood saga it...became quite clear... Ajax was exactly like his father in that Bangar is a racist and power hungry charr as well. Almorra left the legions to build the Vigil to fight the dragons but that meant her son was within reach of Bangar and his ideals without her influence. Ajax was an early hint at how rotten Bangar was but you never figure this out till Icebrood. Then Bangar making Rytlock tribune of blood legion despite hating the man in some way allowed Bangar to poison the mind of Rytlock's son Ryland and.... yeah things...get really bad really quick. Bangar never listening to anyone he feels below him which sadly includes us the palyer telling him Aurene's not a threat and despite telling him at least three times he feels to counter her he needs an elder dragon of his own. How that guy's not dead yet I'll never know but it makes him not getting the power he desired from Jormag all the more fitting, named her voice and locked forever more in a cage where he belongs while we work to kill Jormag was more than that scum deserved. What..exactly Almorra saw in Bangar...I'll never know unless he was her assigned mate if that's a system at all but god I felt horrible for her all the same. As you said..she got crap from her husband and her son... she deserved so much better than she got but at least we helped her see to the death of the dragon that took her warband from her. Ajax..even has the same fur color as Bangar... didn't even look like his mother that much at all... reminds me of that meme "Spent all that time in her womb only to come out looking like his bastard father" or whatever

Hmm must of been some good tea and cards as Lyhr wasn't going to let you steal his lines again lol.

In conclusion, it's thanks to Bangar that Almorra lost her son, and Rytlock and Crecia lost their son. I'd love to kick his ass, whenever it's possible. I already finished Icebrood Saga as Almorra, though maybe I'll replay the last chapter (Champion) just to beat up Braham again, then shove that victory up in Bangar's face again.

And I'm still gonna (attempt to) steal my good man Lyhr's line again tonight (lol).

Between that, I'll focus on EoD masteries to fully upgraded my bot, then deck out that place Arborstone. Hopefully the mastery achievements aren't too hard...

Funny enough one of the first EoD masteries I finished was the jade bot, letting the bot be able to revive you when you get downed is so nice...only rarely gives up trying as that's only happened like once and I forget the why. Think a monster was eating me or something but 99% of the time it gets me back up and cool down on that isn't too long but can be made shorter with a sensory array chip. Think I'm working on maxing the turtle then aiming to max my boat and fishing as arborstone...idk its nice but I'm rarely there. Wish you luck on the masteries all the same.

Also yeah I wanted to gut Bangar big time when i realized all the crud he'd done. He blames Almorra for the death of their son for example because the one who killed him worked for the vigil and thus for her, and yeah he's racist as can be for a charr and basically forced the flame legion to surrender their children to blood legion if they wanted peace saying if they refused he'd kill every last one of them more or less. Knowing full well why Crecia wanted Flame to be allowed back peacefully but exploiting that for his own gain. I'm kinda glad Crecia and the new lady charr imperator for Iron are smart as it seems the guys were just flat out stupid and prideful

I finished the fishing mastery (the vest skin for the chest armor looks pretty nice), and the turtle one. I don't remember if my skiff is maxed out yet (I think it is), but now I'm focusing on my bot. Gonna see what's up...

As much as I want to think otherwise (female charrs aren't that much smarter, male charrs not that stupid and/or prideful), I unfortunately can't really think of any examples of male charrs doing something big. Urvan (leader of the Steel warband) got humiliated and shut up pretty damn quick. Talon (the guy at Claw Island) insisted on fighting off the Risen forces when everyone was clearly outnumbered and overwhelmed. And, Rytlock isn't without flaws either.

So far the new 'imperator' of Flame Legion seems like a reasonable person...

Yeah Rytlock also turned down the honor of imperator but Crecia does honestly alright for a blood legion imperator. The ash legion gal you meet in icebrood is still there as ash imperator and while she does get a bit of a desire for field work she does alright for her job. Haven't met the new imperator gal of Iron but she's not like Smodur so that's already an improvement. Not really a matter of who's smarter among the charr by gender it's just that the trio of ladies in control atm are doing good thus far and we got a decent Flame imperator who's doing well with the whole peace thing. Without spoiling anything there was talk about Khan Ur in Janthir but they're still unsure if they even need one. Smodur btw felt that the epace treaty with humans and the return of the claw of the khan Ur would get him the throne so..it wasn't really for the charr but rather for himself so...he won't be missed. Bangar straight up went traitor so he's not coming back... things look good for the charr.

I am finding it funny that I didn't finish fishing as for the Revenant ascended weapon and the Guardian one I need to fish up a certain fish and that fish requires higher fishing level than i got XD

Tonight, I did the Amnytas meta event again... and of course I attempted to steal Lyhr's line again, shouting his line before the boss was defeated.

Lyhr didn't say anything in the cutscene.

And my son called me out on it (thanks, kid), hahaha...

Lyhr probably being like "Dang it she did it again" poor dwarf but I'm sure he'll get use to it at some point.

I sadly did the chapter of Icebrood involving the death of Almorra and..actually listening to their argument I..kinda gleamed a few bits of info I missed before. Bangar is most likely the boss of the Renegade charr, the renegade charr may also be his tools to counter Smodur's peace treaty idea, and if that's all true then Ajax got a leadership role because he was Bangar's son. Bangar also hates when his failures are thrown in his face especially when it involves his son whom he may of raised solely to be his hand in many a horrible act as he thinks he's clever. So..yeah..so glad the new imperators aren't power hungry like the guys they replaced. Bangar however blames Almorra for the loss of their kid and perhaps the commander as well if they were vigil. Quite the... wild story they weaved but yeah I feel bad for poor Almorra. Lost her boy not because of her recruit but because Bangar poisoned the poor guy's mind and used him like a tool. Ryland having the look of udnerstanding Bangar's a piece of shit when he's forced to watch Almorra die by Bangar's hand...then Smodur does his famously stupid move and removes the only reason for Ryland to care anymore... the sniper rifle used may of also been from the sniper of Ryland's warband who apparently loves to eat but is actually a thin charr. He had..quite a amazing warband and group of friends and becaus eof Bangar and Smodur he loses all of them. Icebrood should of been a happy story but it's a sad one in reality... yay we killed fire and ice but all the crap that came before. Crecia having to help her fellow imperators fix everything those two fools broke... while we the player go hang out in Cantha fighting off the dragon void and pirates
Edit: so seems Almorra has a granddaughter named Ember so... not all her family went to crap. Ember also works for the vigil, saw her in the icebrood chapter I did recently

It seems I need to time it better because if I do it too early or too late, he'll still come in in the cutscene (lol).

Speaking of Cantha... right now I'm just looking for ways to get mastery points. Not really feeling like continuing the story after we freed Soo-Won from her misery just yet. One thing I don't quite understand is, the ending credits come in after the final battle with Soo-Won. The story that occurs afterwards in the mine, against the Ravenous Wanderer demon, doesn't award any mastery points. Dunno why.

Though, it gives me an idea for my own head canon : End of Dragon... well, ends, after we took down Soo-Won, and Aurene stays with us and still maintains the world's magic, without having to take her leave. Almorra gonna be a mother to Aurene, and 'adopts' Aurene as her daughter. I seriously think Aurene deserves to have someone love her that much, and to call that someone 'mother', after all this time. Same for Almorra, who has dedicated her life for the sake of the world, and lost her son and good-for-nothing husband in the process.

Happy ending for everyone~

Edit: so seems Almorra has a granddaughter named Ember so... not all her family went to crap. Ember also works for the vigil, saw her in the icebrood chapter I did recently
At least her family still has someone to keep up...

So, yesterday, I decided to try a condition-dmg setup for my Virtuoso, though I use Mirage stats : condition dmg, vitality and toughness. I use axe/torch and staff, too.

I have to say, it's looking like my favorite so far, even more so that strike-dmg virtuoso. Axe-torch in close range feels so satisfying.

I bought the Aurene Prismatic Noble skin for the dragon, so now Aurene is with me and no longer having to say goodbye.

The Mount Select License is on sale right now, too, for 960 gems.

Best spending I ever made~

I'm finding that at some point I'll need to farm the dragon response missions as I need the mastery point from most of them. Tried getting those during story jobs but some of the masteries are locked outside the encounter during story missions which annoys me. About to finish the equipment table mastery to give me the better mount cloak but I'll still need a good few to finish Dragon Slayer to be able to pluck the eyes from Jormag and Primordius's heads for the cool infusions. I could buy the eyes but people want nearly 2k for them and I'd still need to buy the materials needed to make the infusion I'm after. Flaming eyes just sound wild or even the icy ones

Looking back at Icebrood Saga, I feel that the final climax between Jormag and Primordus leaves a lot to be desired. In the final battle, all you do is fighting the two champions (Braham and Ryland), then break them out of their clash. Repeat that about 3-4 times, then you see the two dragons clash at one another, in the cutscene. And... that's it.

The Champions chapter was super tedious, as I had to go through ALL of the Dragon Response missions just to get to the end.

This Living World feels kind of boring and unsatisfying to me.

I mostly want the crafting recipes and the flaming or icy eyes, the whole saga is depressing given they show us Rytlock's got a mate and son but...then the friction, the fact some charr are still quite racist, shows us more of Almorra's story only for her to die and when you chat with Bangar in his cage about her he tells you he regrets nothing and she was basically a means to an end for him start to finish. Like I'm playing through a sad story...but with nice icy and flaming weaponry and a bunch of charr only helm skins (at least three although two look very similar)

Well, Bangar's just a big jerk in the end, same level as Braham. At least he got what he deserved : being used as a mouthpiece for Jormag, and locked up in a cage, and waiting for his sentence.

When I first saw him, I thought to myself, damn I wish there were a face model for charrs that looks like him. Handsome bastard (lol).

Now, though, no thanks. I don't wanna look like him...

And after having to do a whole marathon of Dragon Response missions during the chapter Champions, I'm way too burned out to even bother with Icebrood Saga in general again. MAYBE some time later, but definitely not now.

Right now, I'm just doing world-completion with my Virtuoso, and after that I'll fully train his other elite specializations, Chronomancer and Mirage.

I'm just doing things one at a time, probably need to take a break from my revenant for a bit as my reaper needs some attention. I might skip icebrood next time it comes up though, more so if I'm using a blood or iron legion charr. Everything Smodur did or said made me wonder who thought ti was a smart idea to make a clearly blood legion minded guy be in charge of iron as he did dumber stuff than Bangar. I mean dang Smodur in the period of three jobs he burned the bridge that could of stopped Ryland from chasing Jormag's power and he made us the unwilling participant in a war crime. I picked to refuse to drop the bomb into that vent but nope it forces me to drop it and... god that scene haunted me. So much death..so much crystal..never wanted to see charr kabobs but nope..there was those too. I don't care what anyone says Smodur deserved getting his head blown off by Ryland, good riddens. He alone could be held responsible for the mass defecting that happened given he didn't care about charr lives he started murdering anyone he didn't like.

Charr society, at least the one that the player lives in, is pretty damn rough, I can tell you that much. And Smodur... yeah, big ouch.

Thankfully, with the tedious final chapter of the saga, I don't feel like I'm missing anything if I skip it entirely... because there's nothing for me to bother there anymore. And I don't really care all that much for skins to begin with.

Except the Aurene Prismatic skin for my dragon, though ; that's a must-have so I can feel like I properly adopted Aurene as my daughter. Poor girl really needs and deserves love, after everything life has thrown at her this whole time.

There is an aurene skin for I think every mount except turtle..or well styled after her not exactly matching her but its all divided among different groups. I'm curious what kinda wolf skin they'll add next as I snag those on the spot if I can... just gotta wait for wolf griffin to return and it'll be mine despite the fact I don't use griffin much these days.

Yeah Smodur...was a piece of work. Rather than talk of moving tanks down the battlefield or putting snipers into position he always wanted to go loud and kick in the front door, anyone had a better idea he'd yell at them and call them stupid. When a fight needed tech he chose manpower and troops instead which is not the Iron way, he refused to tell you plans like a child up to no good but thinks they're being sneaky, second the option for peace came up he ruined it every time, anyone defects he has them gunned down by their own warband... yeah I was happy seeing him die. Everything he wanted to do was a page out of the blood legion rules for combat, only time he did anything Iron legion related it involved tanks or building a bomb that in itself resulted in a war crime that would of gotten him executed if he hadn't been killed in the field. He does stuff that cost his people their lives, he has to be told numerous times that the object of the war was to save the Charr only to give anyone who tells him that the finger and murder more of his own people. He single handedly ordered if not carried out the death if not murder of every member of Ryland's warband then brags about it to Ryland's girlfriend moments before Ryland shows up and he stabs her in the neck with his knife without a second of restraint. If Ryland hadn't killed him I would of gladly done so if given the chance as he was way out of line. Smodur at one point starts bossing the player character around as if he thinks he's better than them especially when he's having that bomb made... someone had fun writing him but my god the man had a thing for genocide. Iron legion are supposed to be inventors and mechanics, they're the part of the army that operates the heavy guns and build and repair the heavier ones... but somehow a blood legion guy got made their boss

The way you describe him, to me he sounds less "Unflinched" and more "Unhinged" because, goddamn. I've only played through Icebrood Saga once so I don't remember exactly all the details (except him killing Ryland's girlfriend and being assassinated later on)... but, yikes. Sounds like we have another in the list of unlikable chars in the game now... next to Braham.

At least Braham doesn't go on a killing spree without batting an eye, but still...

I'm glad Smodur never found the Olmakhan charrs. Goodness, I don't even wanna imagine him taking them as defects then doing that "join me or die" nonsense, and massacring them for refusing...

By the time we get to that beach area with all the zones we gotta reclaim supposedly most of the Iron legion had defected as they couldn't handle his way of doing things. Many of which were forced to execute their own warband for treason, first thing we see when we get onto the ground after the helicopter ride over is a warband executing their former members by firing squad for wanting to defect due to Smodur being suffocating. He's constantly referred to as worse than Bangar by everyone when he's not at the table, his nickname of unflinched mocked by Ryland's girl before he stabs her in the neck. Yeah no he was for sure not unflinching but more the unhinged, he also keeps claiming he's a diplomat but every moment a diplomatic option is needed he snaps and kills someone or bad mouths the option. Wouldn't surprise me if he had someone else do the diplomat thing and he took credit for it as someone who keeps bragging about such things like it makes him better than everyone else most likely didn't do it. Bangar does got a nice face shape but yeah after everything he did as well..I can see why it's not an option. If Smodur had met the Olmakhan he'd of dubbed them all deserters and painted the beach red with their blood not even sparing the cubs so...it's a good thing nobody brings them up in Icebrood. By the time Rytlock has had enough of Smodur's crap and says he's struggling not to kill the man himself Ryland pops up and blows his head off for him so yeah, only reason they freak out that Smodur's dead is they had to now figure out who's leading the last of Iron and commanding the siege units only to hear the best candidate is away at the moment so Crecia has the Flame imperator take command of Iron for the time being. He's nervous about such a role but agrees the last Iron legion members liked him way better than Smodur so they won't give him trouble
