Guild Wars 2

That... would make him hard to replicate... but I can see why he had it rough in the legions. You think he'd of joined the Olmakhan if he'd lived? Yeah he had the whispers but still
Oh, I would just think it's a bug, nothing to do with the lore. It's just a miniature version of him, after all. I believe he left the legions because of an explosive accident that nearly killed all his warband and left his right hand mangled.

As for him joining Olmakhan... I think, 50/50. He seems the type to want to travel and see the world, so if he survives Claw Island, I think he'll set off and explore, while dealing with the dragons first.

At the same time, I don't think he'll be curious enough to seek out the whole Wizard Tower (SOTO). By that point he'll have accomplished the goals he set for himself, fighting off the dragons ; perhaps he'll settle down by then.

I have a feeling he is not going to like dealing with Smodur...

Yeah I'd imagine he'd maybe avoid Smodur as joining an order may count as treason for all I know. Smodur was a fool given power and he got what was coming to him in the end. Bangar meanwhile supposedly gets really torn up when Jormag's power left him and has to I think spend prison time till his sentence is decided. Would not be surprised if the torment of dragon magic withdrawal gets him first though. On another note my revenant may need to tread maguuma to get the herald shoulder

Oh no, you don't need to go to Maguuma. As long as you fully unlock everything in the Herald specialization, you get the armor piece. A good number of my characters avoid HoT like a plague and get the hero points from PoF and EoD instead, still get the armor pieces when their elite specializations are fully unlocked.

I need over 130-140 hero points after I hunt down all the hero points left in cantha. It's either I scour central tyria or I toss myself into those accursed woods. Only..plus side to maguuma is I can maybe upgrade my gliding skill some to not have an energy bar anymore...maybe. I avoid it like the plague too but it's that or hunt through dozens of centlral tyria for hero points

Well you have Path of Fire too, which are quite easy to do. Full Tyria map, full Crystal Desert, and full Cantha, and you'll have enough points for all 3 elite specializations. Though, the gliding skill is also useful when mount is disabled.

Already got all the Path of Fire ones sad to say, but we'll see I might start leveling some of the other characters I got while I think things over

Aye well, I'm doing full central Tyria map with my Mesmer. It can be pretty tedious, but I'd rather be safe than dealing with HoT, no thanks.

On a side note, I really wish a lot of the armor skins are for full outfits, especially those that don't cover too much of the charr's tail. Really hard to find any that looks good, meh.

I kinda wish we had pants that at least for charr makes our tail look fiery or the like in ways that certain outfits do. I mean hey I love how the sentinel armor gives me a flaming tail but the bird theme of it not so much. Then the Balthazar armor outfit and the flaming tail but you can't control the color of the flames. Also wish i could dye backpacks so dragon wings backpack and glider would match and I'd be able to show it more often than hide it. Lot of stuff they can do, I'm also quietly hoping the new Janthir content coming out I think next week includes missing voice lines as I feel so guilty denying my mechanist their right to finish the story because she's been rendered mute.

There is a backpack and glider skin that look like dragon wings, and you can dye it.

I kinda wish we had pants that at least for charr makes our tail look fiery or the like in ways that certain outfits do
I just wish I can look like the flame or lava shaman, without wearing pants (lol)

I did the Amnytas meta event again tonight. Though, instead of stealng Lyhr's line like usual, I just said it in the chat in the most bored way possible (lol) :

"Yes, yes, Amnytas is ours... yada yada yada... old news."

And Lyhr didn't say anything afterwards.

I like to think he is so fed up with me he just gave up tonight, haha...

Trying out and loving Willbender so far. Condition damage with axe/torch and dual-pistol, is amazing. I have a lot of fun with Almorra just burning and bleeding everything in her path.

Getting back to Thief as well, after so long... still getting the hang of it, but Deadeye is still my go-to when I need burst of damage to quickly clear out mobs. The trait 'Collateral Damage' really adds to that, making the marked target explodes and causes AOE damage, which is a nice bonus.

However, I am having issues with the achievements in EoD...

Trying out dual pistols on willbender myself, they're fun but I was I suppose more annoyed by the story I went through. You're not missing anything with Janthir, first half is nice but the last two chapters are kinda meh. Wanting to burn down the sylvari town as instead of getting the female charr voice lines they got the dang plant people... I hope that protest ends soon as I want to resume my mechanist's run through things. Hoping they never use or have used Ai for anything and that they never deny us voice lines again as my god it's like talking to ghosts when key people don't say anything and you're forced to read several paragraphs of text. Not saying who but the patch notes sadly tell you real quick...in other news my ranger charr is using knives and may go soulbeast but we'll see as all I know for my ranger is I've got a ascended longbow waiting for him now as my guardian swapped away from it to pistols and dual swords. I will say I met the new Iron legion Imperator and she's nice, decent gal and admits Smodur was a moron who kept sticking his paws in everything giving her more work lol

Well I'm not touching Janthir until it's on sales... and I still have EoD to explore anyway, so I can wait.

Guardian pistol is great for cond damage, with a lot of bleeding and burning, so I pair them with axe and torch. Willbender's Flame (F1, F2 and F3) can all cause burning damage, so I go all-in with as much damage as I can. If I feel like going raw strike damage, though, then it's Dragonhunter for me.

I realized that, from now on, if I play cond damage, then my equipment is always power / cond damage / vitality, regardless of class or elite specializations. Power / cond damage / precision is horribly expensive to gear up, and too weak in terms of defense for me.

Yeah a nice amount of burn and bleed and they're actually firing faster than long bow which saved my hide a few times. I sadly had to change the willbender heal back to the signet as it was like every time I activate the willbender heal nobody touches me or it barely heals me that much and that was killing me. End of the day my guardian gets to enjoy a nice vacation for a bit while I work on everyone else. Also looked up what you said about the warband mates and what became of them... sad to see they let Bangar poison their minds but your sparring buddy survives and that's what matters for me. Had to change up the personal story I had for my ranger though, thought he recruited that one heavy armor female charr for his blood legion warband but..nope he recruited the other option so maybe I'll have him and his sparring buddy as a couple if I ever write his story... Reeva is a cool gal and I'm so happy she lives

As for my other characters I've got a good few who need to kill Zhaitan still or well get to that point and press on from there so I may just spend some time slaughtering a zombie dragon. Taking it slow with my revenant in EoD as if I finish that too quick that jumps into secrets of the Obscure and that pushes me towards Janthir and I'm not going to throw my people into Janthir till the voice lines are finally there at least. I might mess around with my homestead some but we'll see as idk what I'd add if I did or not. Maybe change the dining room table and chairs up...expand the kitchen more...maybe do something with the cellar idk. Lot of land I got no clue what to do with just like when I played animal crossing lol

So far my Elementalist is the next one to complete EoD maps, and after that will be Almorra (Guardian). Thanks to a Lion's Arch Gate, I can just skip through the entire story and get straight into the DLC. Also, I managed to get the minimum mastery points needed to fully unlock all tracks ; currently grinding EXP to complete Arborstone, and I'm officially done with all the masteries here.

  • Keep the Speaker and Jade Brotherhood NPCs alive at the temple : I had to bring Almorra to this fight and keep her on full tank/healer, otherwise those NPCs die so damn quick, and I could very easily lose the achievement.
  • Hit 10 targets at the archery contest : I FINALLY managed to hit them, despite the damn saboteurs disrupting me. Worse is that they kept saying that the targets they're 'guarding' are for Tateo... and at the end of the event it shows that Tateo's mother set up the saboteurs just to make sure her son win. Damn woman.
  • Defeat the Valdhertz bosses without getting hit more than 10 times : So, while fighting the final bosses, I noticed that the hit count didn't count down when the bosses hit me. It only counted down when I got hit from this corrupted heart. Thankfully, it wasn't too hard.
  • Throw local treasures at naga looters 5 times : Pretty easy to do, only difficult in waiting for the event to start...

Those were my recent ones, and with that my mastery points are enough for me to fully unlock the last track, Arborstone. After that, I can just chill...

Path of fire ascended weapons are such a pain to get, was trying to finish up the collection for renegade's bow but sadly I'm stuck on two parts. I must slay the forged Proliferator and kill a caffeinated skritt. No clue where the skritt is and that forged guy is such BS. He summons turrets and keeps dancing around dragging the other mobs into the fire and somehow even out of sight they still shell me with mortar fire from the cliff side. I checked if anyone wanted to help me but everyone avoided me, they saw me as a good source of distraction for the forged allowing them to fly over without being shot down. I may never get that bow at this rate but having to hunt down a skritt hopped up on what I'm guessing is coffee sounds like a pain in itself. I did at least find some hero points in PoF I missed so once I get them all from EoD I could finish out Herald with central Tyria. Oh and idk if it's a bug..I used mount stealth to avoid Forged yet they still locked onto me and shot me down while it was active... I've developed a hatred for those things now and I might end up slaughtering a bunch on my Berserker and Reaper. The buff says I'm not supposed to be seen but the forged just love being annoying like their fallen master.

On another note I've gotten my mesmer to around level 54, apparently some kind of experience boost going on so they shot up nine levels just clearing out the area around the Priory. Was considering changing her scepter out for a knife to get used to the knife moves sooner (all thanks to weapon mastery from Secrets of the obscure for allowing me to do such) but all the ones I find are weaker. I don't enjoy having to build ineffable weapons but I may need to if I want something decent at this point. My warrior must be livid at me as I always seen her as one who hates making small weaponry like daggers but I'm sure I'll be forgiven...at some point as I'm not making her a spell breaker so she won't need to wield them herself but i've already made a set for my ranger to test out and now my mesmer may need one. At least they can be reduced to research points after their use has expired but still feels like I'm wasting materials.

I don't even bother with ascended weapons for the elite specializations... all of them are a pain in the ass for me to do, I just don't have the patience for them. Though, if I REALLY want, my best shot is with my Necromancer, who can reliably solo a lot of champions or even legendary enemies (if I'm lucky). Everyone else is gonna be very tough calls, though.

As for help from map ? Yeah, sadly that's how it is. People tend to ignore things that aren't meta. I don't know how many times I failed to take down the Champion Avatar of Rage in Inner Nayos, because it only spawns DURING the meta, and people were focusing on the meta so they just ignored me.

In your situation with a level-54 Mesmer, I don't recommend crafting weapons. You can just buy a fine or masterwork one from Black Lion, I'm sure it's pretty cheap for you to try out. I can tell you that, at that level, you still don't have to worry about stats. Honest to goodness here, even random loot can be enough for you. Only thing you need to worry about is if the weapon attacks feel alright for your style, and if they work well with your other skills. Trust me, even if I could have a legendary staff right now, I'd still prefer my exotic scepter for my Elementalist and Necromancer.

Main reason i go for ascended weapons for the elite specs is mostly the skins, like the pistol for necromancer called Quietus is is huge compared to most pistol skins. The weapons are just upgraded forms of the weapon they start with but I've collected them as a way of showing the character advancing their knowledge or status as that spec. Although at this time the only one I've pulled off is the giant fist mace for mechanist.

As for my 54 I'm still trying to see what stats work out for me but looking at the Black Lion market does tend to be a good spot if I'm in a rush for a weapon but it tends to be cheaper to make use of my warrior's maxed out weaponsmith talents

So, my son told me a way to improve attributes in the game : using gemstones as upgrade components, in case I don't know which sigils I want for weapons, or if the sigils I want are too expensive. But, compared to a number of sigils, the gemstones are extremely cheap and affordable.

I did a bit of testing yesterday, and learned that :
  • For two-handed weapons, you cannot slot the same gemstone twice. For example, I CANNOT slot two Spinel Nuggets into the same greatsword. But, I can slot one Spinel Nugget and one Spinel Lump, and my attributes are increased accordingly.
  • However, you can use the same gemstone for both main-hand and off-hand weapons. For example, I CAN slot a Spinel Nugget into a sword, and a Spinel Nugget into a shield, and my attributes are increased accordingly.

Compared to the sigils, gemstones only increase attributes, and never have any special effects such as on weapon swap, when landing a critical hit, etc. However, since I only bought sigils for the attributes (increase strike dmg, condition dmg, or healing effectiveness), I never bother much.

I did a bit more testing, with Almorra, my Guardian : replacing the Sigil of Force (strike dmg) and Sigil of Accuracy (critical rate) with a Ruby Orb and a Ruby Crystal in my greatsword. The result is barely noticeable, at least in my case ; however, the Ruby Orb and Crystal improves ferocity, I have a bit higher critical damage.

So, what I did the whole evening yesterday was salvaging ALL WEAPONS to retrieve the sigils, and buying new weapons with the gemstones for the attributes I need. Also, thanks to having a lot of laurel, I could buy ascended amulet and rings at the laurel merchant, to save up some money too.

After that, I sold all sigils I'd bought up until this point...
  • 10 Sigil of Transference
  • 13 Sigil of Bursting
  • 49 Sigil of Force
  • 37 Sigil of Accuracy
  • 2 Sigil of Concentration
  • 4 Sigil of Stamina
... for literally 200+ gold.

I dunno about other players, but for me, this is definitely my way to go, and I'm super happy with what I got.

Sigils are mainly for if you want to add effects or stuff to the weaponry but you can also make the gemstones better if you've got the Jewelcrafting skill and some metal on hand. A lot of people don't realize sigils are optional but hey everyone plays their own way. There is also legendary variants of I think every sigil but legendary stuff is always a pain to obtain. You can turn raw jade from EoD into gemstones with the dragon set of stats, also some dragon stat items as well but the recipes for such cost research notes and need to be bought from certain vendors. I've yet to find out if the Amber you can also get in EoD areas can be treated the same way but it's not a big deal for me all the same as I don't make sue of the amber too often. Jewelcrafters can also combine lower rarity gemstones and turn them into upper level ones so if you're going to be investing in gems it's good to have a character who can cut them for you. Just a tip for anyone who reads this section looking for advice on the game.

Another tip for any possibly new players or ones not aware...the crafting skill of Scribe is heavily expensive and requires you to be a certain rank in your guild as it's a crafting skill based on service to your guild and only certain ranks in the guild can use the fabricator required by the crafting skill. Scribes are one of the hardest crafting skills to level as it's more than paperwork and such you're building furniture for the guild hall, blueprints for special WvW things or upgrade materials for the guild hall. It is not a skill to take lightly as it demands a lot of work and highly expensive resources and perhaps more materials than any other crafting skill. It's strictly a guild related crafting skill, no guild then don't worry about it.

For those who are after the skill to build furniture for their homestead you automatically gain the skill for that and it's called Handiworker I think. It also makes stuff like scribes but it's perhaps easier and more personal with crafts as it's purely homestead furniture crafting. Handiworker requires the Janthir expansion and to level up the homesteading mastery but once unlocked you get access to a large sum of achievements that unlock recipes to build stuff from all over the world.
