Well, 'tis that time where we reflect to see for self-improvements and the like. Unless you're perfect in which case, TEACH US YOUR WAYS OH GREAT GURU!!!

For the rest of us, anyone wanna share their resolutions for 2025? Me, I'm working to reduce catnip and wine this year, and to cut out a lot of BS in my life. Gonna focus on my happiness and just try to be the best damn kitty I can be one day at a time. Here's hoping!!

So...what's yours? <listens comfortably with a grin>

I really wanna try to just really get my life in shape. I wanna at least be living in my own apartment and be paying for my own bills and stuff. My money has been getting better. I’ve been doing work for a few weeks now. I’ve been talking with one of my friends and I think we’re gonna be roommates in the next couple of years.

Let's see...
I think it was nearly 2 decades ago I made the resolution for no more resolutions and, wouldn't you know it, I managed to keep that up for a good long while! It was nice because I didn't have any "failings" of myself to further bum me out - I could simply exist. That was nice while it lasted.

Fast forward to the present and I'm now at a point in myself where I feel that resolutions can help improve my self-worth to myself. It's been a not-so-mild ride these past five or so years and I have outgrown my resolutionless lifestyle. I have:
-Changed states.
-Lost friends and made new ones.
-Transformed my work mindset into believing in myself and my abilities to make a living not dependent upon some large conglomerate.
-Gained new responsibilities that demand a lengthy commitment to produce well-rounded individuals.
-Moved into my own domicile.
And I now find myself in a safe place - safety I haven't experienced in...possibly ever.
Now is the time to help further my growth by placing some: "loose" resolutions.

Gotta take it easy, after all. Right?

So, what are my resolutions for this 2025?
-Continue to work on my healing and personal growth.
-Continue to make strides toward a healthy diet.
-Get into the habit of exercising for my health and not just aesthetic or society's diluted ideals.
-Learn to be present and live in the moment as opposed to being paralyzed by ghosts of the past and the uncertainties of the future.

So, cheers to us all, and may we do our best in this new year! <3

The secret is to be a rat. Ehee :3

But seriously though, I never make any of those resolution things. I find them to be too limiting, I mean, what if the situation changes and your previous priorities are suddenly crap in the light of the new situation :O

I guess I could resolve to remain adaptable and to not limit myself via arbitrary resolutions? That's pretty clever, huh.
Take that, new year's tradition, hahaa! Try and boss me around, will you! >:3

So close...you are the perfect RAT, but I seek to be the perfect CAT. They sound close, honest mistake. Must have had some yogurt in your ear. :)

OOoo, too true. I suppose all you can do is resolve to do start doing something right away knowing it probably will change anyway so you don't have to commit making it a non-commitment and a total waste of time from the start and...hold on, something went off the rails here...<scratches his head confused>

HA! Like anyone can tell a rat what to do!! You already drank the DO WHATEVER A RAT WANTS potion so 2025 has no power over your ratty will!! Mwahaha!!!

None

And I mean, I say this as someone who's finally grown tired of expectations, especially for people with some sort of disability like me. 'You should be 100% independent', 'You should have a social life', 'You should be making X figure of money by X lapse of time or else you're useless', 'You should try to be healthy/be more mindful/be demure/take care of your body image', 'You should do all that or else you'll fail at life forever' and blah, blah. Nah, FUCK ALL THAT! Let me live my life how I WANT, at my own PACE, without having to stress about the pressures a mostly abled/neurotypical society puts on people like me.

I'm more than contempt with being a silly smelly skunk online :P
Giggles Just like that cabin dwelling Were Skunk from Regular Show said: "Once you turn skunk, you won't wanna turn back"

Which means that, from now on, I will simply be... unapologetically ME! I will unapologetically be my entire species! I will be unapologetically stinky, silly, awkward, horny, kinky, naughty, mischievous (pretty much who I already am, lol!) but most importantly, a skunky skunk! I will absolutely not hold back, and nothing will stop meh! ;D ;D

I've got a few general goals in mind:

-Improve upon my archery (actually be consistent with it!)
-Learn to play the bass guitar
-Build a PC from scratch
-Impove my plant identification skills
-Actually travel somewhere, not done that in a while

I would add, "cut down on cheese consumption", but it's always best to keep these things realistic.

I’m gonna try to be more present among my family members. I am absolutely aware that I’m the rare, privileged type whose parents genuinely live for their 3 queer children and love them, with over 40 healthy years of marriage and counting, and now I wanna give them all of it back somehow. My mom’s health is slowly declining as the years goes by, and I wanna take care of her with everything I got. Dad is a friggin powerhouse, but I wonder what state he’ll be in after she’s gone… he’ll need a very supportive hand too. And then there’s my brother. It’s harder for me to openly speak about him, but he’ll need us, too.

I have no idea how all of this will play out and it makes me anxious, but I prefer to be psychologically prepared for the inevitable changes in our family dynamics than to simply let things happen and not know how to handle them.

Failed at the top two

I don't think I've made resolutions in over a decade. At least not at the start of January itself.

That said, as of recently I do have a commitment:

As of April of this year, I will never again touch anything with zero-calorie sweeteners in it. Until then, I will not buy anything with zero-calorie sweeteners in it.

(My commitment to avoid all sweetened drinks won't be for some months after that. I need to acclimate to less strong flavors - no, seriously, fake sweeteners are WAY stronger flavors than actual sweeteners, even something like HFCS.)

Well, when it comes to me, the new year started how the last ended. I was even at work on New Year’s Eve, so I basically missed the change of year entirely. I am just hanging on, waiting for my first vacation since end of August, which happens to be one of the biggest furry conventions in Europe, so I also don’t get that much rest then, neither 😅.

I think what would count as a New Year’s resolution though is never again wasting money on those twitter “artists” that contact you first, start talking you in with a commission you never actually wanted, then overcharge and deliver junk. This happened way too much to me last year. They clung on me like literal leeches.

You mean you haven't succeeded YET! You didn't fail...success is just a 200 step process and you're early in. <wink>
Well, I think I've given up on archery completely, I have played a little bass since I made that post.

-Build a PC from scratch

Scratch one off the list. That was relatively painless.

Just got to improve myself and broaden my horizons now, and my resolutons are done.
