You know what just doesn't get old (to me, anyway) in Minecraft? Setting up a whole bunch of spawners in the middle of a village with both villagers and zombies, maybe some other mobs, and then just sitting back and watching chaos ensue as night falls. Here I have a ton of zombie villager spawners (probably a 3 to 1-ish ratio to villager spawners), as well as a few zoglin spawers (because they attack everything), as well as a vindicator spawner and an iron golem spawner. It's quite a...unique harmony of different mobs just chasing around killing one another.

There's a reason I don't have god powers, and this is why. I'd be a bastard if I was in any position of power. Chaos is fun.

I've been enjoying a rather obscure RPG on the good ol' Mega Drive called Rings of Power.

It's not a looker, and the music isn't a good example of what could be done on the console. What's awesome about it is it's an open-world at a time you hardly found them on consoles, the map wraps around so you can circumnavigate the whole world.

The lore is pretty fun too, everyone is magical, even the knights of the land. All attacks in the game are in the form of spells, even from your armour-clad swordsman. It's very amusing when an upset hermit attacks you by casting punch.

Huh, I mistook the graphic style for some of the earlier PC RPGs. I think Ultima Underworld and some of the Gold Box games had a similar art style. And after hunting down the music, I'd say that also reeked of early PC budget games (and not all budget, the combat music makes me think of the Elvira PC games actually) as well.

So is this where the "I cast Fist" meme started?

I wonder if this game was originally made for Genesis, then ported over to Mega Drive - the controller in the corner is a Genesis controller. Either way, it's rather ironic the people within the game bother with armor at all if everyone is magic, unless the armor itself is enchanted to block magic, not sword blows and arrows. Either way, a cool-looking game that seems to have had a lot of effort put into it.

It's not the first time I've heard a comparison between Rings of Power and an Ultima game. You make a good point, they really did aim to get a PC RPG experience out of a console. The game's music does seem to have variance in the quality of it's music, the intro music is amazing, while some of the tracks played in buildings feel very low budget indeed.

I really wish that was the case! Sadly, I don't think so, but it does keep reminding me of that meme each time an enemy casts his punch spell, hehe.

Well, it was developed by a pre-bandicoot Naughty Dog, who are American, so I'm not surprised it says Genesis on the controller, even in the European release for the Mega Drive.

Haha, as far as anybody knows, the armour and weapons are just for show, as the knightly character who joins your quest is good at casting "stab", haha! I think the game deserves a revisit, I just love the concept that magic is so commonplace, that knights have their own school of magic (dedicated to the art of dividing anything and everything), as do the archers (who don't use their bows so much as use magic to apply force to things). Despite that, the towns where the knights reside does produce swords, which you can sell for a profit to other towns, so physical weapons are in demand.

I made my own custom Minecraft biome. Not a mod (sadly), just something I've been doing for the past few hours, modifying an existing woodland biome. Basically, it's very similar to a standard woodland biome, however it's the reverse where birch trees are the dominant tree, oak being less common - also cherry blossoms and azalea trees, though not an overly common ratio. Blue orchids are the only flower, and small mushrooms are common, with some giant ones also seen, similar to dark oak biomes. Wildflowers replace the ugly as shit leaf litter (it actually DOES look like shit), but pink petals are found beneath cherry blossoms like in their normal biome. It's taken me quite a long time to make my fake biome, surprisingly, most of it was replacing all the leaf litter with wildflowers/pink petals. I love it, to be honest.

I swear I don't just play RPGs, but everytime I mention a game on here, it just so happens to be in that genre.

I've been spending my weekend on a game that's quickly becoming a favourite.

SKALD: Against the Black Priory.

A classic, old-school style of RPG, retro-inspired graphics and all. This game is creepy, it's got serious atmosphere, I end up getting very anxious when exploring some dark cave, knowing things are seriously messed up should you scratch the surface.

Plus, the skill checks are literal dice rolls, it pleases the tabletop gamer in me.
