I heared so much about the dead internet theory and thought eh whatever. But now I feel with forums it's probably getting true. A lot of people are just on discord servers and other closed places now.
Losing FAF really sucked. Everyone from there scattered around to whatever Telegram groups or Discord servers their friends were on :(

I did try joining the FA discord, but it's not the same community over there, the people are different... and besides discord just can't replicate the forum experience no matter what anyone says. I hate endless scrolling, all anyone ever sees or interacts with is the most recent stuff
Basically, delete Discord & Telegram, reboot FAF. :v

Forums are just the best for community building: topicality, preservation, shenanigans, they have it all :3
Agreed. Also forums are the best place for new people trying to get into the community.

Yeah! You can write an introduction instead of jumping into some random conversation in #general (or whatever)
It feels more concrete here, with a ton more space to write :3 topics also don't seem to fizzle out as fast. It's calmer~
That was the best thing about FAF imo, it was sort of the central furry forum, even if they didn't really advertise it well. The loss of FAF really splintered the community. Even if it was not as active as it could have been, new members were popping up constantly and old ones were retained well, things were interesting right up to the forum's closure. The weeks before the shutdown had almost this bittersweet festival vibe :O
